Story Telling in Word and Song
July 25 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Sunday Concerts on the Lawn series continues on July 25 , 4:00 pm. We will be welcoming Rev. Charles Maynard, storyteller extraordinaire, and Chuck Whiting, Music City Arts Network owner and talented tunesmith.
“I do think there is something about being outside that makes you more aware of the whole universe, of creation itself. Some may say that doesn’t have anything to do with God but for me it does,” says Charles Maynard, who has spent a lifetime exploring and tending to the Smoky Mountains.
Chuck Whiting is a Nashville-based educator, publicist, music publisher, author and songwriter. His company, Music City Arts Network, has represented a wide range of artists in genres ranging from music to the visual arts. He also is the founder of the monthly “Tunesmithing” songwriters showcase in Nashville. Chuck is the co-songwriter/co-author of the holiday song and storybook “The Littlest Star” featuring Margo Smith, Denny Jiosa and Connie Ellisor. His publishing company, Striking Moon Music, handles the song catalog of the late Marcia Jones, whose song “Closer Than We’ve Ever Been” was featured in the Hallmark movie “Lake Effects.” Chuck also serves as an assistant professor of Mass Communications for Motlow State Community College in Smyrna, Tennessee. Chuck will perform selections from his recent albums “Dreamer On The Prowl” and “Going Full Circle: A Piano Album.” The albums are available at CD Baby, iTunes and other online retailers.
This event will be indoors (masks optional) and broadcast over livestream on our Facebook Homepage and is open to the community. Please bring donations for Signal Mountain Social Services in the form of boxed, canned or staple food items; or, bring boxes of Cheerios for The Bethlehem Center’s summer programs for kids. Prepare to be entertained and uplifted
